She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Branyon of Landrum. Crochet Class To Be Offered Mrs Myrtle Komant will again teach a crochet class at the Landrum Branch Library beginning Thursday, January 14 and continuing on Thursday nights through February Those interested in the class are required to call 457-2218 or visit the library to register for the class. A small fee will be charged. This class is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the fee that will be charged is to be placed in the Meeting Room Fund of the Friends. Move Here Ken and Mollybelle Schwab, formerly of Canton, Ohio, are now living in their new home in Mountain Shadows on Skyuka Road in Columbus. Mr. Schwab is retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and Mrs. Schwab has retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Co. in Akron, Ohio. Arledge of Mill Spring has announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Clerk of Superior Court of Polk County. Mrs. Arledge has held this office for the past 3 years and previously worked as Deputy and Assistant Clerk for seven years, from 1969 to 1976 Mrs. Arledge is a graduate of Polk Central High School. She is presently serving as first vice president of the Thermal Belt Business and Professional Women’s Club. She is married to William Arledge and they have one son, Blake who is six years of age. McIntyre In South America Mrs. Virgie M. McIntyre, Polk County Educator, Professor of Reading at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N. C., is in Colombia, South America, where she is teaching an In- Service course called Reading Workshop for K-12 Teachers at Barranquilla. Mrs. McIntyre is in her tenth year at Western Carolina University. Since going there she has published a book on the teaching of reading, written articles for various professional magazines, and done workshops all over the state of North Carolina as well as regional and national conferences. Before going to WCU Mrs. Mac, as she is called by most of her students, was a classroom teacher in Polk and Rutherfordton Counties and supervisor of schools in Polk. She lives with her husband, Bryson, in the Green Creek section of Polk County. She will return to the states January 23. Miss Lillie P. Owens has returned to her home in Columbus after a two weeks holiday visit with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Todd Hall of Eden, N. C. While visiting she accompanied them to Floyd' Va. on a skiing trip at the summer home of Mr. and Mr^ Edison Hall of Eden. She reported they had 8 inches of snow.
